Fingers on the strings, and someone listening.
We build the lyre, and the one who hears it.

We make three things: Tide, which keeps a character's face alive while it listens; Moon, which lets a character choose its own moment to speak; and Keythra, a keyboard you hold close and play like an instrument.

LyraType Tide

Tide animates a character's expressions and upper body from sound, in real time. The character responds while you are still talking.

Shio, the character in these demonstrations, is played by Hiyori Momose, a sample model by Live2D Inc.

  • Keeps up with a live stream

Motion arrives while the words are still being spoken. It works for streams, calls and game dialogue. Tide's real-time API is open for a free trial. Write to us for access, and tell us what you think.

  • Acting through the silence

Listening, waiting, about to answer: the character reacts through all of it and never drops back to an idle loop.

  • Plug it into what you have

Keep your avatar and your software. No new rig and no capture hardware.

LyraType Moon

With Moon, a character keeps paying attention when nobody speaks, and speaks first when the moment is right.

Meet Moon

What the character says when nobody asked

  1. You said you'd sleep early tonight.
  2. That interview. How did it go in the end?
  3. I just thought of something. Never mind, finish that first.
  4. You laughed. Was I right, or way off?

An illustrative scene: the character, Shio, shows what Moon does. A recording with the avatar and voice is in production.

  1. You

Let me kill this bug first. Talk in a bit.

  2. Shio

    Go. I'll be here.

You are busy, so the character leaves you to it.

  3. Fourteen minutes. Nobody speaks.
  4. 9:56 pm
  5. Shio

…It's been quiet over there for a while. Fixed, or stuck?

Nobody asked. The character spoke first.

  6. You

    Stuck.

  7. Shio

Then stop staring at it. Last time you got up, made tea, and saw it the second you sat back down.

    Last time is remembered.

LyraType Keythra

The two halves sit apart on a desk, or join into one and hang at your chest on a strap. Away from the desk you keep typing, and you never reach for a mouse.

Reserve Keythra
  • Joined, and worn at the chest

The halves lock into one piece and hang in front of you on a strap. Away from the desk, standing, walking or lying down, you keep typing.

  • A thumbstick on each half

Moving the cursor and scrolling the page happen under the thumbs. There is no mouse to reach for, or to carry.

  • Held like an instrument

Both hands rest in front of you, the way you would hold a lyre, not bent over a desk.

Where the name comes from
A lyre, and someone to hear it.

  1. The lyre overhead

On summer nights a small lyre hangs beside Vega. The old astronomers called it Lyra, and LyraType takes its name from it.

  2. The lyre under the hands

Our keyboard comes in two halves, like the lyre's two arms; joined and hung at the chest, it is held as a lyre is held. The Greeks called such a lyre a kithara; Keythra takes its name from it. Fingers fall on it as they would on strings, and a string, once sounded, wants a listener.

  3. The moon and the tide

So came Moon and Tide. The moon draws the tide, as it always has: Moon lets a character keep what you said and choose its own moment to speak; Tide brings that to its face, so the response starts before you finish.

The moon moves, the tide rises; you touch a string, the character looks up.

Where it is used
Wherever a character needs to stay with you.

  • AI streamers and co-hosts

While the streamer talks, the co-host nods, answers, and now and then brings up something of its own. A one-person stream becomes a conversation.

  • Companion apps

A character you spend hours with stays expressive in silence, remembers what you talked about, and has its own sense of when to speak.

  • Games and interactive stories

Speaking characters perform as the voice arrives, with no line-by-line animation to make.

Questions
The ones we hear most.

Do I need a camera or motion capture?

No. Tide works from the voice alone.

Can I use my own character?

Yes. Today that means Live2D models used through VTube Studio; you keep the model you already have.

Do Tide and Moon have to be used together?

No. Each works on its own. Together, the face moves before the first word.

Can I use them now?

Both are research previews, and the real-time API is open for a free trial. Write to us for access, and tell us what you think.

Can it run on my own machines?

Local licensing is available by arrangement: the models run on your devices and work offline.

When can I buy Keythra?

Reservations are open. The Keythra page has the details.
